We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Advisor to join our Digital & Data department, where you'll have the opportunity to bridge the gap between business and data, driving value and innovation across our organization.

About the role:

As a Data Advisor, you will be at the forefront of Elia’s strategic initiatives, helping to unlock the full potential of our data. You'll work closely with subject matter experts, business leaders, and IT teams to design and implement robust data foundations that align with our corporate objectives. Your mission will be to enhance our data management practices, ensuring they are fit for purpose, sustainable, and deliver tangible business value.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive data governance: Contribute to the continuous improvement of our Data Governance methodology, providing field feedback to refine practices.
  • Business alignment: Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand business needs and align data initiatives with strategic goals.
  • Coaching and training: Advise and coach Data Owners, Stewards, and cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of data excellence.
  • Transversal data management: Ensure the consistency and transversality of the Business Glossary, promoting a common language for data across the organization.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Build strong relationships with diverse teams, ensuring alignment and convergence on data-related initiatives.
  • Customer-centric approach: Act as an ambassador for “One Team for the Customer,” consistently generating business value through data.

What You’ll Avoid:

  • Working in isolation or from an "Ivory Tower"
  • Defining Data Governance methodology without field input
  • Making unilateral business decisions; instead, you’ll advise with careful reasoning
  • Managing technical teams or developing systems directly
  • Overseeing community management or engineering tasks

Who You Are:

  • Experience: At least 4 years of experience in Data Management, with expertise in Data Governance, Quality Management, Metadata Management, and Master Data Management.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the utilities or energy sectors is a significant advantage.
  • Soft Skills: You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a customer-oriented mindset. Your communication abilities enable you to lead workshops, coach teams, and foster collaboration across diverse groups.
  • Adaptability: You can switch seamlessly between hands-on work and a supportive role, always ready to challenge the status quo with innovative solutions.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English, and at least one of Dutch, French, or German.
